Core Activities:

Education (OVC)–Counselling sessions, regular workshops on health, self-support, and sharing skills.

Faith Education: formal and non-formal schools

Activities in Lesotho:

  • Counselling and vocational training of teenage mothers
  • Counselling and adademic training
  • Education: Formal and non-formal, e.g. Shepherds school children, women with difficulties, teenage mothers, OVC, preschools.
  • Alleviating Poverty among Basotho, e.g. Self-esteem skills
  • Helping disabled children acquire life skills.
  • Offering accomodation in a hostel for girls.
  • Health Education for HIV positive, abused children, etc.
  • School fees and uniforms were provided for 25 OVC at St. Anne de Auray in Thaba Tseka

Future Plans:

  • To accomodate a learning centre for herd boys.
  • Rehabilitation centres for teenage mothers where Good Shepherd sisters work.
  • Assisting teenage mothers and OVC with life skills activities, e.g. Sewing, knitting and home economics.
  • To extend our health centres to accomodate higher services to HIV positive people.
  • To promote pre-schools in a higher standard, e.g. education, buildings and enrollment.

Funding:

Good Shepherd Sisters of Quebec provided school fees and uniforms for OVC.
