The Thuso e Tla Tsoa Kae Centre in Butha-Buthe is a community based school for children with multiple disabilities.

It is a vocational school and residential facility which currently has 43 children with a wide range of physical and mental disabilities. Of these students, there are 74 boarders and 5 day students who are taught to become self-reliant and have equal opportunities in life.

Basic skills are taught for mentally challenged students.
Activities in Lesotho :
The Centre in Butha Buthe caters provides education through a basic curriculum of literacy, math, health education, physical education, and Sesotho, as well as vocational skills trainings such as crafts, agriculture, and permaculture as well as life skills, including identity, self-awareness, self-help skills.

The Centre also works with parents to inform them about disabilities and how to communicate effectively with their children.
Future Plans:
Plans for the Thuso e Tla Tsoa Kae Centre include:
  • To become a resource centre
  • To provide basic vocational training for students
  • To build additional residential facilities and classrooms
  • To begin income generation activities sucs as piggery and poultry.
