St. Angela's provides temporary shelter mainly to children with disabilities. The goal is to improve the quality of life of children with disabilities through rehabilitation and support services and community involvement. Programmes adapt to the changing needs of those with disabilities, and include:
  • Residential care
  • Support for every day living
  • Rehabilitation
  • Pre-schooling
  • Support for inclusive education
  • Raising awareness and educating people with regard to disability issues
  • Building self-esteem of residents
  • Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Activities


Baseline study on provision of primary and secondary education to children with physical disabilities in accordance with MOET Policy on inclusive education. Conducting study in ten schools in Morija and ten schools in Butha Buthe.

Activities in Lesotho :
St. Angelas provides residential care for up to 36 children in Lesotho. They also run the following income generation projects to keep the program running:
The Chicken Project: They keep 1500 chickens and provide eggs to the local community.
Milk Cow Project: Supplies milk to the Home and allows for a small amount to be sold to the local community.
Piggery: Provides protein for the childrens diet.
Fruit and Vegetable Garden: Manure is used from livestock projects for fertilization.
Future Plans:
Future plans for St. Angelas include the following goals:
  • Expand rehabilitation services into the local community, reaching up to 50 people within one year
  • Setting up a resource centre for a variety of disabilities
  • Initiate respite day care centre open to non-resident children with disabilities, reaching an additional 100 children within one year
  • Increase number of staff
  • Expand residential care facilities
  • Provide physiotherapy service through acquiring the services of a psysiotherapist for AVI.
