Core Activities:
SWAALES is a community-based program focusing on HIV/AIDS prevention, stigma reduction, and OVC care and support. Their work began in Maseru and Leribe districts but has since expanded into Berea well.

Their HIV program consists of helping to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS by creating awareness. They also provide home-based care through lay counselors and carers. Recently, SWAALES began incorporating TB into its HIV training program so that lay counselors and volunteers can conduct pre-test and post-test counseling.

In each community, SWAALES works with community monitors who volunteer to ensure children selectedf for the program are cared for and provided with at least 1 hot meal per day. In 8 villages throughout Maseru and Leribe, SWAALES also trains children in managing vegetable gardens, so that the vegetables are eaten for substance as well as sold as a sustainable source of income for the organization.

In 2006, SWAALES reached 30 OVC per village in 10 villages. As of 2008, they surpassed their goal of reaching 70 OVC per village in 11 villages by reaching 950 OVC altogether.
Activities in Lesotho :
