Core Activities:
Serumula works in two broad areas: Natural Resources Management and Rural Development, mainly concentrating on agriculture and food security. The Association also pursues issues related to health and well being by promoting clean water and sanitation. We also promote participation of Youth and Women in Rural Development by providing them with leadership and life skills.
We also support orphans and support groups by providing agricultural inputs and encourage them to be involved in home gardening. Serumula supports some schools with vegetable seedlings and fruit trees. Occasionally, we are called upon by groups who are looking after orphans to provide food items.
Most of the training is provided to the communities are in areas of Soil Science, Plant Science, Natural Resources Management- Water & Soil Conservation, Biodiversity Conservation, Business & Marketing Training, Project Management.
We emphasize empowerment of communities to have less reliance on donations and encourage them to work for themselves to produce their own food to eat and sell excess for income generation. Hence our approach is that of encouraging communities to form Commodity Associations e.g. Handcrafts for women, Wool & Mohair, Seed & Ware Potato, Horticulture- Vegetable, Fruit Trees, Poultry, Piggery etc.
