Project History:
Sept. 1, 2007 present: Coordinator of Resettlement Housing Project at Kao Diamond Mine. Completed construction of 14 resettlement houses.
Sept. 1, 2005 present:
Provided short courses in environmental education and sustainable development for Christian Eco-village Trust, based in East London, RSA.
Jan. 1993 present: Founded and led from the ground up a pioneering rural
development and education institution. Formulated a
practical hands-on curriculum, and designed and built
with staff and students over 25 major structures, including staff houses, workshops, offices, and a conference center and hostel for adult education. Established integral income generation and agricultural programs including a micro-finance office. Forged working relations with the following donors and appropriate technology organizations: UNICEF, the Roman Catholic Bishop of Mohales Hoek, the Canada Fund, the Arkleton Trust (UK), EU Microprojects Management Unit, the Government of Ireland, USA Ambassadors Self-Help Fund, E&Co. (USA), Brace Research Institute (Canada), the Sustainable Development Research Institute (Canada), the International Institute for Energy Conservation (Africa Division), and Helvetas (Switzerland).
1996-1997: Managed a community based NRM program in the Phamong Valley supported by the EU.
1997-2003: Managed the continuation and expansion of the NRM program in the Phamong Valley in cooperation with the Swiss Association for International Development, Helvetas.
1995-1999: Managed a food-for-work program to construct over 11km of new access in the Bethel area in cooperation with the World Food Program (a workforce of 100 people per month) and with capital funding provided by the EU.
1999-2001: Managed an extension program in energy efficient building practices in Lesotho in cooperation with the International Institute of Energy Conservation.
1998-2003: Obtained working capital/venture capital loans from E&Co. of $25,000 USD (repaid in 2002) and $50,000 USD in 2001 to commercialized solar energy products and services in Lesotho.
1997-2003 Managed a long-term capacity building and institutional development program for Bethel Business and Community Development Centre in cooperation with Ireland Aid in Lesotho.
1994-2003: Managed the work of short-term interns at BBCDC from the Brace Research Institute, the University of British Columbia, Dartmouth University, Stellenbosch University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as well as long-term Peace Corps workers.
2009: Assisted Pelaneng Baking Group in Ha Lejone to set up a solar bakery with 2 parabolic ovens and associated inputs, tools and equipment.
