Sixteen men and women from England travelled to Lesotho this November as part of Kick 4 Life's maiden football tour to the country. As well as raising £35,000 to support Kick 4 Life's work in Lesotho, the team travelled across the country playing matches against local teams and delivering HIV prevention sessions in a range of schools and orphanages.
The squad included Dave Moteane whose father emigrated from Lesotho to the UK forty years ago. It was Dave's first visit to the country where he met many relatives for the first time, and he now plans to become a regular visitor to Lesotho and ongoing supporter of Kick 4 Life. Dave and the whole team would like to say a big thank you to all the people in Lesotho who helped make the tour such a fabulous experience for all involved.
The money raised will support Kick 4 Life's ongoing work to develop a national Good Health Through Sport initiative in partnership with the Lesotho FA. To find out more please contact Kick 4 Life's Lesotho Director Pete Fleming: pete@kick4life.org
Following the success of the project Kick 4 Life has scheduled a second tour for February 2009 and would be very keen to hear from people who would like to take part either as players or support crew. Each participant must raise a minimum £2,200. To find out more please contact steve@kick4life.org
