On Thursday 7th August, the Letsema Network was celebrated with a reception at the Lehakoe Executive Club in Maseru, in an effort to raise its profile and spread awareness.
Letsema, initiated by the Department of Social Welfare and funded by UNICEF and Sentebale, is a network of organisations working with orphans and vulnerable children in Lesotho. The network promotes cooperation, communication, and collaboration within the OVC sector through a website, monthly Letsema meetings, and a quarterly newsletter.

Letsema now hosts an interactive map of Lesotho showing the locations of organisations, projects, hospitals, clinics, airfields and secondary schools.
The purpose of the map is to show who is doing what work and where, while also mapping important services and facilities. With a focus on OVC care, stakeholders’ locations are mapped and their project details are listed.

Dolen Cymru are hosting the Lesotho Conference 2008. The conference is being held on Thursday 5th and Friday 6th June, at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff.
This is an event for all of those working in Lesotho and with an interest in the development issues affecting Lesotho and its people.

A letter signed by 37 of the country’s leading organisations was delivered to the Prime Minister on Monday 31st March.
The letter was written by the Lesotho National Federation of Organisations of the Disabled (LNFOD), and calls on the government to sign and ratify the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities at the earliest opportunity. Sent on the first anniversary of the opening of the Convention, the letter has been signed by Directors of a diverse range of stakeholders, including disabled peoples organisations, service providers, international development agencies, religious groups and human rights organisations.

18 January, Lesotho. 26 emergency obstetric kits have been donated by The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to health centres around Lesotho.
In a statement, the UNFPA say that the donation is part of their humanitarian assistance to governments in emergencies, and part of their coordinated response to disasters.
This is a response to life-saving needs of pregnant women and newborns in drought affected districts of Lesotho. The kits include equipment for birth attendants, post rape cervical repair, caesarean sections, uterine evacuation and neonatal resuscitation.
