Still no power for handicapped kids…
Two years ago the Thuso e Tla Tsoa Kae centre for the disabled received a grant to install electrical wiring to help improve the children’s living conditions but the centre has still not been connected to the national grid.
This is a common enough problem for many small projects who are given grants but are unable to sustain the improvements. At Thuso wiring and electrical equipment were all installed ready for the big switch on with the money received from their grant. But without guaranteed recurrent funding they have been unable to hook up.
This centre in Butha Buthe is a vocational school for children with disabilities – mostly the mentally handicapped. There are 15 boarders and 11 day kids who are taught to become self-reliant and have equal.
